What you can expect on your Seldovia Wildlife Tour
Welcome aboard the Discovery or Rainbow Connection for an amazing tour of Kachemak Bay and the community of Seldovia. Our first stop will be at Gull Island, one of Alaska’s largest bird rookeries, where you will get up close and personal with as many as 15,000 sea birds. Our most common sightings are Bald Eagles, Tufted and Horned Puffins, Glaucous-winged Gulls, Black-legged Kittiwakes, Pigeon Guillemots, Pelagic and Red Faced Cormorants, Common Murres as well as many other species of seabirds.
We will continue through scenic Eldred Passage where we frequently find otters, sea ducks, whales, and a variety of other marine life. Learn about the Islands, Fjords, and waterways as we cruise towards Seldovia.
We arrive in Seldovia around 1:30 PM, though timing may vary depending on the tour and wildlife sightings. Once there, you’ll have time to enjoy a meal at a local restaurant or the picnic lunch you brought. Explore the historic boardwalk, visit the museum and visitor center, hike scenic trails, or capture the town’s natural beauty through photography.
Departure is at 3:30 PM (timing varies by tour), with an estimated return to Homer around 5:30 PM. We often pause for whale watching along the way, making the journey just as memorable as the destination.
