Halibut Fishing Charters from Homer
We offer several options for halibut fishing charters in Homer—Full-, 3/4- and 1/2-day options.
Guests can choose ¾ or full day trips on our big, stable 56-foot Ultimate, a full day trip on one of our 6-passenger boats, or book a quick 1/2-day trip with one of our affiliate captains.
Halibut Fishing on our 56′ Ultimate
When you fish on our 56′ Ultimate, your charter captain is co-owner Billy who is accompanied by two deckhands. The Ultimate has two private bathrooms, inside seating for up to 18 people, plus additional seating on the back deck. The bunks are down below with an emergency kid tv, microwave, coffee maker, and freshwater sink. The Ultimate is one of the bigger big boats based out of the Homer harbor. It offers a very sea-stable platform and ample fishing space. It’s also fast, so we can reach places that the 6 passenger boats go, especially during full-day trips. We offer full and ¾-day halibut trip options. Private charters are available for larger groups.
A full day halibut only trip offers the most time to target larger fish. Guests can be the most selective on the full day trip with the maximum amount of fishing time available.
The ¾ day halibut trips give you the chance to spend a fun day on the ocean catching fish. The goal is not necessarily a big fish chasing trip, but big fish can certainly be caught. It’s a great option for families.

Half-Day Halibut Fishing Charters
Alaska Coastal Marine is thrilled to be partnering with the new owners and long time captains of the Spirit and the Foxfire for 1/2 day halibut fishing trips. An easy half day fishing trip is one of the most popular activities for people visiting Homer. Get outside in the fresh air on the open ocean in Kachemak Bay. Fishing is a lot of fun and halibut has a universally pleasing, mild taste that everyone seems to love. Everyone visiting should get to enjoy this unique Alaska experience.
For all of our fishing trips, you will need to purchase a fishing license, plus a halibut or king stamp if applicable. A license can be purchased online at Alaska Department of Fish and Game or at most sporting goods stores around Alaska.
